If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to work at MaineWorks, the answer is simple: it’s real, it’s supportive, and it’s about more than just a paycheck.
MaineWorks isn’t your average job placement agency. We don’t just connect people with work and move on. We walk alongside each person we place, providing structure, support, and a sense of purpose that many of us are looking for, especially during tough transitions.
Whether you’re coming out of incarceration, early recovery, or just trying to find stable footing again, MaineWorks offers an opportunity to get back into the workforce with a team behind you.
A Typical Day
Most of our workers are placed on construction, landscaping, or other hands-on job sites. You show up, you put in honest work, and you know that someone’s in your corner if you need help. Our field team checks in with both workers and job site supervisors regularly to make sure things are going well.
We handle transportation, payroll, and gear. We want to eliminate as many barriers as possible so you can focus on showing up and doing your best.
The companies we partner with know what we’re about. They aren’t just hiring for labor, they’re joining a mission to create safer and stronger communities.
More Than Just a Job
The work is important. But what happens outside the job site matters too.
Our staff gets to know everyone by name. We’re there when someone gets their first apartment. We celebrate milestones like 30 days sober or a year out of prison. We’re also there when things get tough, offering encouragement and helping people stay on track.
Sometimes, that means helping with paperwork. Sometimes, it means making a call to a case manager. And sometimes, it just means sitting down and listening when someone needs to talk.
We also work closely with recovery residences, parole officers, and social workers to build a full circle of support. Nobody does this work alone. And at MaineWorks, you won’t have to.
Why People Stay
There’s something different about working with a company that believes in you. That shows up. That answers the phone when you call. That tells you they’re proud of you when you’ve had a great week.
People stay with us because they know they’re not just a number.
And when you’re ready to move on to full-time work outside of MaineWorks, we’ll help with that too. Several of our workers have gone on to become crew leads, managers, or start their own businesses. Our goal is to help you succeed, not just to keep you on payroll.
We’re Hiring Now
If you’re looking for work in Portland, Lewiston, Auburn, Augusta, or Bangor, now’s a great time to join us. We’re expanding into new cities and need dedicated people who want to show up and work hard. Experience is helpful but not required. What matters most is attitude, consistency, and willingness to try.
You can apply right on our website or give us a call. Someone from our team will walk you through the next steps.
Final Thoughts
Work has the power to change lives. It gives people something to be proud of, something to build on, and a reason to keep moving forward.
At MaineWorks, we see that transformation happen every day.
If you or someone you know is looking for a job with meaning, connection, and opportunity, we’d love to meet you.
